Jacob

October 27, 2018 By All Saints of North America [edit]

This week the LAMBS will learn about Jacob, from his and his brother Esau's birth, receiving the birthright blessing from Isaac, the vision of the ladder, marriages, and reconciling with his brother. There is a lot of story to learn this week, and the focus for them will be on the cheating and lying the characters participate in. Why did the characters lie? Cheat? What were the consequences? Did lying and cheating catch up with the characters in the story? Do they lie? Cheat? Why? Please pray for our little LAMBS to act and speak honestly this, and every week! … [Read more...]

Isaac

October 20, 2018 By All Saints of North America [edit]

This week the children will be learning about trust and faith in God. Abraham’s taking of Isaac to be sacrificed is a great example of faith in the Bible. How difficult it must have been for Abraham to be willing to sacrifice his beloved son. The children will begin to make the connection between this story, and the sacrifice God will make for us when he gives over His own beloved Son as a sacrifice for us. Please keep our little LAMBS in your God-pleasing prayers. … [Read more...]

The Tower of Babel

October 6, 2018 By All Saints of North America [edit]

This Week the LAMBS will be learning about the Tower of Babel. Last week, they learned that mankind had turned away from God and had become wicked, except for Noah and his family who were saved because they obeyed God. In the story this week, they will see that mankind has once again turned away from God and become prideful. The little ones will talk and think about how it must have felt to suddenly not understand anyone, and feel alone. Please pray for our little LAMBS in your daily prayers! … [Read more...]

Noah

September 29, 2018 By All Saints of North America [edit]

The Great Flood and the story of Noah are the focus this week for our little L.A.M.B.S. Last week they learned about disobedience through Adam and Eve, and this week they will learn about obedience through Noah. They will learn how he obeyed God, even when others thought he was silly and laughed at him. To help them understand how hard it might have been for Noah to obey, they will talk about times when they may have been made fun of and how that felt. They will talk about storms, and being afraid, and will hear the story of how God brought Noah and his family safely through the Great Flood. They will learn of the rainbow and God's promise to Noah. Please remember our little L.A.M.B.S. and … [Read more...]

On the Great Blessing of Waters

January 5, 2018 By All Saints of North America [edit]

by St. Sophronius of Jerusalem O Trinity supreme in being, in goodness, and in Godhead, almighty, who watchest over all, invisible, incomprehensible, Maker of spiritual beings and rational natures, innate Goodness, Light that none can approach and that lightens every man that comes into the world: Shine also upon me Thine unworthy servant. Enlighten the eyes of my understanding that I may make bold to sing the praises of Thy measureless beneficence and Thy might. May the prayer be acceptable that I offer for the people here present. Let not my faults hinder Thy Holy Spirit from coming to this place, but suffer me now uncondemend to cry to Thee, O most good Lord, and to say: We glorify … [Read more...]

The Theological Meaning of Vespers

December 29, 2017 By All Saints of North America [edit]

Great Vespers is, for many, their favorite regular service in Orthodox worship. It has great theological meaning, and as the first service at the start of the liturgical day, it has great significance. This article will enrich your experience of Vespers. The Vespers service (the first service of the liturgical day) is meant to remind us of the Old Testament period, the creation of the world, the first human beings fall into sin, of their expulsion from Paradise, their repentance and prayer for salvation, the hope of mankind in accordance with the promise of God for a Savior and ending with the fulfillment of that promise. The service begins with the opening of the Royal Doors and the … [Read more...]

Encyclical of Archbishop Demetrios for The Nativity of Christ 2017

December 27, 2017 By All Saints of North America [edit]

Light of Light, Brightness of the Father, You have made the whole creation shine with joy! Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We glorify Christ on this blessed and glorious Feast for having come to us and for revealing the abundant and redeeming grace of God. We glorify Him for entering our humanity for our salvation. We glorify the miracle of His Incarnation and give thanks with great joy for this mighty act of God. We glorify God before all the world, because our Savior has come and the people who sat in darkness, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death, Light has dawned. (Matthew 4:16) Today, the Son of God, as Radiance sent by the Father, has come and … [Read more...]
